Description

All of the skaters have signed a long term deal 6-8 years at the age of 25 and below. Demko also signed a long term deal at 25yrs old. Given how the salary cap is structured It is better to give these franchise players a long term deal early after the expiration of their ELC or 2 year bridge deal. When they are still at the average athletic peak performance years 24 - 30

For sure. I wouldn't say so for goalies, just because of how long and unpredictable their development is, but all skaters who have high-end potential should be locked up as early as possible and as long as possible. Mercer is next for NJ, he should get something like 7x7 off his ELC

These are some great contracts. People are iffy on Caufield but when he's healthy he's scoring 40 a season

For goalies that are at top bracket which are only a hand few I would and I do include Demko. I think you have to judge a goalie consistently at every league and level he has been in to warrant a long term contract.
