Description

Just seeing if the Devils could fit Hellebuyck now without any retention involved, looks like they can with some minor to do league minimum signings and demoting Smith though Idk if they'd be willing to send Smith down or not.

The lines and D pairs are not important here, I assume Mercer might be ahead of Palat but just put him on line three here.

Signed Halak for a backup so Schmid can marinate in the AHL for the season.

If you don't like Benn for a vet dman there's a few others still without a contract, Edler could probably be a decent 3rd pair guy if needed.

Anyway let's not lose our minds, just seeing if Helle at full cost fits from a cap perspective for the Devils, to me it appears that he does.

There's no market for Helle, maybe LA comes calling after 10 games in and they realize they have the worst goalie tandem in the league but other then them I can't see a fit.

Devils will not take the full 6m to rush for a damn cup. Yes lets get helly just to fight him on a deal not worth what he wants, just to make it harder to sign Hughes,Schmid,Mercer,Nemec in the next two years.
I dont trust old man Halak, he is 38 thats a red flag. Rather Desmith at 50%. Why do ppl like you panic and want the devils to be in cap hell and rush for a cup. i swear ppl forget how to be normal after a team makes playoffs for the first time in 5+ yrs. Cant wait for these same ppl to go MIA when Buffalo makes playoffs and refuse to panic trade a goalie to them cuz they think Levi is it LOL pathetic ppl

So LA is the only one of those teams that I can see calling for Helle, the rest are all settled with who they have or aren't really contending.

Was just seeing if Helle would fit on the Devils roster now without retention, wasn't about the return though I don't think the return will be all that good.

I get you, I really do... lol... BUT I just really doubt the Jets would retain on Hellebuyck unless it's a TDL trade which this hypothetical trade isn't.

No not unless it's a full tear down jets are better off competing this year and keeping Helle than a late first and a goalie that noone actually wants, with retention at the deadline they could easily get a first and prospect if they are out of playoffs. there's 0 reason to make this trade out of desperation

flawed idea. Smith's contract is $1.1M. I don't think it changes in Utica.
You're def not adding Benn and Halak
Cap space rn is $1,919,167+ VV's $3,400,000 = $5,319,167
CH salary is $6,166,666 - 5,319,167 = $847, 505 (the remaining money needed to find).
BTW Funny think is Cory Schneider Kovy and Janne Kuok are $2.7M dead cap hit!!!!

Yeah if Smith is demoted his cap hit goes to Utica with him, that's why I demoted him and signed a league minimum dman, for some cap space to fit Hellebuyck, maybe it can be done slightly different but you end up at pretty much the same result but probably with even less cap space left.
