Description
more years for a lower aav. jt comes back for cheaper so we can lock up knies longterm w ease. backlund could easily get more money elsewhere but i could see him taking this deal to join TO whos trying to win. we can swap players if needed, theres plenty of options for third line C. the *4th line* is a high energy-shutdown line that keefe or boucher would love. they are easily 3rd line worthy and a good one imo

Why would the Isles make that deal? The prospects are more or less equal (I think Bolduc is more valuable at this point than Timmins, and I think Holmberg is probably a little more valuable than Dufour) and they have no need for another bottom-6 forward. Jarnkrok doesn't play the type of game the Isles would want out of a 4th liner, and he's older and significantly more expensive than the presumed 3rd line wingers (some combo of Oliver Wahlstrom/Hudson Fasching/Julien Gauthier I'm assuming.) Not saying it's an awful deal, but just feels like a bit of deck chair shuffling.

I also agree with the post above - don't bring back Klingberg, just sign Liljegren to that 3x$4M bridge deal. I'd much rather have Lilly in his age 25-27 seasons than Klingberg from 32-34 at that cost.

No shot Gauthier gets a 3rd line role over jarnkrok, if lou loves engvall he’ll love jarnkrok

If the cap wasn't an issue, I'd agree with you. But as we're talking, the Isles only have about $5M in cap space next summer and I can't see them using 40% of that on Jarnkrok when they can easily backfill that position with a guy like Gauthier or Fasching, and spend that space on someone (anyone) who can reliably score goals.

I don't think Liljegren warrants a first round pick in a trade unless he makes a sizeable leap this year. And if he did make that jump, it would behoove the Maple Leafs to just hang onto him as a core piece of their defensive core.

Same way sandin wasn’t gonna fetch a first, I’ve heard it before, but I agree that the leafs should keep him if he does better
