Lots of reports Peterson wants to leave if the team isn't competitive this year. So let give him some solid wingers to play with.

With Brodie resigning cheap or off the books next year, can easily get Nylander to 8x$9.5M and have the next dynamic Swedish duo

What does competitive mean? Canucks are bubble playoff team at best; this trade doesn’t change that but you are giving up a young top pairing offensive dman which doesn’t make sense.
Reality is that Canucks have been among the worst managed team of the past 5-7 years; given what happened in Calgary & Winnipeg - tough spot to be if you are a Canucks fan

Hughes literally doesn't even make the first page of search results for power play goals by defneseman in the last three years.
