On what grounds? 4.75 million is a lot for a 3rd line winger. 2018-2020 Labanc you could make that argument, but he's been underperforming his contract for a few years.

I doesn't matter if van what's LeBlanc or someone else sj is in a complete rebuild and would want pick and prospects not 1 for 1 cap dumps

Why wouldn't the Nucks just send Myers down to the minors? What am I missing? Either way, what does SJ get out of this trade? We have 5 d-man fighting for that last spot, why make it 6? If SJ could just send Myers to the minors, then we would want a 5th just for doing the paper work.

If LaBanc was an asset, then sure, but you're not bringing back picks or prospects for a cap dump, which is what LaBanc is at this point.

This proposal saves them 4.875 million on real money at the cost of 1.25 million in cap space. They've also got a pretty big hole at 1RD with a trio of Matthew Benning, Jan Rutta, and Kyle Burrow.

That would be a win for the sharks, and like LaBanc, they could retain and ship him off at the TDL.

This makes no sense at all. LeBanc is infinitely more trade-able than Myers. He still had 33 points last year on a terrible team...
Sharks could easily get a 3rd for him at the TDL with half retention.
Plus the extra cap space from not taking on myers contract could give them a chance to be a middle man on a trade at the TDL to get even more assets.
Only way sharks make this trade is if they get either a pick or 2mil retention from VAN

I dunno I think the memes deal was contingent on us not taking back a d man in the return, but having rutta and Myers seems redundant to me. That and we have 9 NHL ready defenders

Detroit have three right wingers producing better than Garland and don't need him and his 15 million in cap. Retain 50% and we can talk.

Just signed Fischer, not trading him for the more expensive Garland who isn't needed at the moment.

Rutta is a bottom 4 guy, Meyers is still a top 4 defenseman, the other guys on the roster that are RHD are depth guys at best.

Sharks have one retention spot left for the next 3 seasons, they can either move a piece they have or be the middle man, not both. You are also not factoring in how much a team who will have suffering gate revenue doesn't want to pay player salaries. Labank is due almost 6 million on salary this season, Myers is only due 1 million in real money. And you could argue that you can pick up a 3rd for Myers 50% retained at the TDL too, so that point is pretty moot.

Benning is better than them both so it doesn't really make difference to me. Sharks do not have the space or need for Meyers, and this deal might benefit them monetarily but actively harms them on the ice so I dont see it happening anymore unless Vancouver adds something
