No way that trade happens. Ranger don't need the cap space and if they wanted Monahan, they probably could have gotten him as a UFA this offseason by just making an offer.

Monahan may be a valuable trade piece at the TDL, but he will have to prove it this season.

I know it's become something of a broken record, but the Sharks only have one retention slot remaining and they won't tie it up for 3 more seasons.

Sharks shouldn't have to retain if they choose to move Ferraro.

monahan would be good for the 30ish games he'll be healthy for, still way too much to give for a guy on a prove-it deal

If Monahan is a viable trade piece at the TDL and performing, we could get a 1st (or upgrade a pick to a first) without taking a contract like that back. One of the rare occasions where neither team is super excited about the deal right now tbh.
