The F*** does cap space have to do with it? I said we don't want to pay his salary. Acquiring Brodie doesn't get us to the playoffs either, so why give up the guy we play at 1LW to acquire a 4th RD? Especially one who has a terrible contract for a rebuilding team?
Oh, because it helps Toronto, that's why......
Again, hard pass.
"We" don't want to pay his salary? You don't pay anyone's salary buddy. Your top pair consists of your 21 year old blue chip in Jamie Drysdale and a defensive sieve in Cam Fowler. Beyond that you have two rookies in Helleson and Lacombe who have played less than 3 NHL games, a regular healthy scratch in Hagg, and Radko Gudas... but yes, let's pretend Brodie would go from playing top pair on the team who finished 5th in the regular season last year to "4RD" on the elite defense core that is the Anaheim Ducks.
Meanwhile you just signed Killorn and added Carlsson to a forward core that was already your strength.,.. A terrible contract? He has one year remaining at 5 mil lol. This is how rebuilding teams start to grow, by bringing in veterans to guide the young guys, in this case a guy who has been elite defensively on a solid team. But sure, let's pretend a guy who hasn't scored more than 43 points since 2016, and whose best season is 51 points with only one other 50 point season, who costs more against the cap (the thing that matters despite you pretending your bank account will take a hit) is more valuable.
The two worst contracts on your roster for a rebuilding team are the ones you just signed, Gudas and Killorn...
This is a good trade for you. It's not a matter of opinion, I'm just letting you know, because you clearly don't know much. Please keep talking out your ass though as if the additional 2 mil your owner has to pay is the sticking point.
