What? How much more do you want for a 34 year old pending UFA... a former 1st round prospect that still has incredible upside and a 2nd? I overpaid to make sure there was no issue. Stop it now. I love Mikael Backlund, he's CERTAINLY not worth more than that

Makes it not mine, I don't care if it's right, multiple Bruins fans have said this is probably about right if the Bruins blow it up towards the deadline.

Incredible upside? Suzuki has some of the most mediocre AHL stats and is a longshot to crack any NHL roster unless it's a bottom feeder full of AHL'ers. Backlund, coming off a 50 point season, gets MULTIPLE better offers, him being 34 doesn't really drive the value down.

You can't make garbage offers for players you love then get mad at people when they say they aren't good offers.

Bruins don't nave a need to blow it up, plus Marchy is still a bargain for the money he makes. A few C prospects and a late first doesn't get Boston to move him. He likely retires a Bruin, much like Bergeron and Krejci just did.

If at any chance they DO blow it up, he stays to mentor the rookies.

Drury''s not a prospect, he made the roster full time this season.

What? Suzuki's underlying numbers are incredibly strong, He was single handedly the reason the Wolves finished the season in the playoff race and not in the basement. Him coming back from injury. Just because his point totals were down does not make him a longshot, are you clueless? Backlund's 34, it drives down the value. He's a pending UFA, that drives down the value. He's coming off his best season, he's a 45-50 point producer but a 3C. Stop it. I'm just going to add you to my ignore list again, I removed you from it to show you that the Bruins trade ain't mine.

Do you usually add people to your ignore list when they challenge your horrendous hockey takes?

What underlying's are you even talking about? Are you just scraping the bottom of the barrel? He scored 32 points in 50 games with a whopping -14. You drafted him in the first round and he's yet to do anything significant in three seasons. He's 22 and STILL likely doesn't crack most of the NHL's teams and will probably start in the AHL AGAIN this season unless Drury is moved and Carolina can't find a 4C lmao.

Backlund is a great, defensively responsible, vet middle 6 C. We see time and time again GM's love to overvalue players in trades, and I can guarantee if Backlund was made on the open market today he'd get a lot more better offers than a late 2nd and a long shot prospect.

Well Suzuki is not performing like a first round pick and is headed towards being a bust, so his value is nil. And the CAR 2nd is basically a 3rd

A full retained Backlund is probably worth close to a late 1st and a prospect/young roster player at the deadline, so your offer isn't really all that close

Suzuki is trending towards Shane Bowers territory. First round pick, middling AHL stats. He won't sniff the Canes roster unless there are significant injuries or Drury is moved and they can't find 4C.

Suzuki's performing like a 1st round pick that had a very scary eye injury. He was absolutely dominant towards the end of the AHL season. You're looking at his basic counting stats and trying to argue "oh he's heading towards being a bust". Ryan Suzuki could make the Canes roster next season, it would not surprise me at all. Carolina's roster is far stronger than Calgary's. His value is not "nil" that is just cluelessness. The Canes 2nd will be late, but you get one of the best prospects Carolina can offer to go with him. This is likely what a retained Backlund gets, a 2nd from a contender, and a prospect.

If Suzuki is one of the best prospects Carolina can offer, Calgary doesn't pick up the phone.

100% agree - Pesce will turn 29 a month into the season so it's doubtful the Sabres would extend him for any longer than 5 years IMO - especially when their top 3 are all young and they want to preserve room for their prospects to earn jobs in the next 2-3 years. Adams also isn't interested in rentals.
