Canes pass. The enitre reason they would trade Pesce is so they do not lose him for nothing. Nylander has the same problem. 1st + Lilly + prospect if you want Pesce.

That is to much for a rental. Canes wouldn't pay anywhere close to that for Nylander either for the same reason.

Major disagree. You're getting a top 10 RD in the NHL, you're going to pay for one. He's a complete unicorn with his skillset as a defenseman that isn't particularly physical but excels defensively. It means injury concerns are minimized while still getting one of the most unique players in the league. If you do not like that, the Canes will happily keep him. Carolina are one of if not the favorite for the cup right now. They can keep the roster they have, happily.
