Opening Night Othmann Gets His Nine Games

Created by: KingLundqvist30
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 3, 2023
Published: Sep. 3, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Panarin and Kakko have shown that they have had good chemistry in the past. I know Kreider and ZibaneDAD are cemented in together, but I truly think that Kreider-Trochek-Wheeler would be more beneficial. Othmann has played RW before, and I think it would be better to move him over instead of Lafreniere. Othmann is famous for his one-timers and quick release, and those are both things that would shine if he were to play right wing.

I don’t think the 9 games mean anything for him. He’s burning his 1st year regardless if he’s in the NHL or AHL

I think so as well. His contract already slid the 2 years he went back to juniors.

For my money (that is Swedish currency to you) I would swap Trocheck and Chytil otherwise I'm down for testing this out.

You’re 1000% right. Either way I think he gets a shot opening night.

Ehh I’m not so convinced. Drury didn’t sign all those random guys just for them to play in the AHL and Othmann in the NHL

he would have to have like a hat trick in preseason games to really impress

Maybe it was insurance signings incase Othmann or Cuylle needed more time? This team can need a hit machine like Othmann in the lineup. Yes if he is not ready then of course they don't need him this year. But need it eventually they will.

I mean there’s no correlation between a guy throwing hits and being good or making the team better. Othmann and Cuylle both need to get used to a Pros game and they should get it with top line minutes in the AHL

I’d take an experienced Vesey over Othmann and Cuylle on the 3rd line and Lavi would probably agree

considering most of those players are making league min, those are buryable cap hits.
None of those guys should be blocking othman..
Also I flip panarin and Laf.
Othmann's game is perfect for panarin on the other wing.

There’s no proof that othmann is actually ready for the NHL lol like why do we want to rush another prospect and ruin development

And if you send those guys down, you’re blocking AHL development time for the other prospects

They aren’t blocking lol he would be playing 3rd line likely and that’s dumb. He’s better off playing top line in the AHL

For the 3rd line, I’m taking vesey over othmann any day

3rd line is fine for a kid like othmann. Additionally, if you move panarin to that line, its the second line not 3rd.

Who’s gonna play defense? Definitely not Panarin or othmann

Panarin of 2019-21 was strong defensively. Chytil is very strong on both sides of the Ice. And Othmann doesnt slack defensively.

Panarin is known to not play defense, chytil is fine and Othmann has not played 1 pro game so defense in the juniors vs pros is completely different

Panarin not playing defense until this season was not true. His 19-20 season he was dominant in all 3 zones. His 2022-23 season he was poor defensively. Lets see if thats a 1 year aberation or a trend, Especially with a defense focused coach.
