Here’s the fun thing about player value, it’s a what have you done for me lately league and no one cares what he did two seasons ago, he’s not a star. You also pulled his player card playing for Tampa, that’s going to inflate all of his advanced stats. Show me his player card from last year, I’ll wait.
It doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to determine player value.
It doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to just being able to follow what he said himself. You said "
a guy who produces like a $950k one"
I was not talking about his trade value, everyone knows he had a down year in this "what have you done for me lately league" and it affects his current trade value. So let's forget that he's a defensive forward and PK specialist but let's focus on what YOU were talking about to determine his price tag : production
2018-19 (21 y/o) : 0.37 PPG : 30 pts per 82 games
2019-20 (22 y/o) : 0.19 PPG : 16 pts per 82 games
2020-21 (23 y/o) : 0.34 PPG : 28 pts per 82 games
2021-22 (24 y/o) : 0.43 PPG : 36 pts per 82 games
2022-23 (25 y/o) : 0.32 PPG : 26 pts per 82 games
Outside of his sophomore season where he struggled offensively (only 37 games too), he has averaged 30 pts per 82 games despite being buried on Tampa's squad and producing 95% of his numbers at ES or on the PK.
So which regular forwards in their late 20's who produce 28.5 pts per 82 games at ES/PK on top of being defensive/PK specialists only make $950k? Please let me know and I'll gladly sign them all
Kerfoot produced 30 ES/PK pts last season and your team just gave him 3.5 AAV x 2 years
Is it because Kerfoot is better defensively at ES and on the PK?
Not very impressed if you're a rocket scientist
