Sabres seem to be very high on Rosen. I wouldn't do as a Sabre because Hanifan isn't going to make THAT much difference for the Sabres in his one year. Keeping thinking long term.
If the Sabres so concerned about LHD this season, they could have signed a UFA for 4m (not as good as Hanifan) and kept their assets.

I don’t think the Sabres need Sturm. He’d just be their 4C and they also have a really big center pipeline they don’t need to clog.

Sabres could use someone to win faceoffs, be decent playing defense and have a little grit and not too expensive. I think Sturm checks most of those boxes
