Description
Nothing really good happening here. They are at the bottom of the pacific. They still have the good players here and there in the lineup but it just isn’t a good team. The good thing for the sharks is they have the trade chips to get prospects and draft picks for the future. It’ll come in handy. Not sure what else to really say about the team. It’ll be a while till they become competitive again.

You want to know how I know you aren't a shorks fan? You're not delusionally optimistic, a Pollyanna if you will. Now we just need to learn how to lose properly for the next 4 four years. You know your team sucks when they can't even lose right.

Sadly we added too much to be a legit tank worthy team. The D won’t have as much offense but will be more defensively sound with full seasons with Thrun Knyzhov and Rutta over layers like Simek, Macdonald, Karlsson, and Megna. Offensivly Duclair, Hoffman, Granlund, Zadina, and Eklund while none can come close to matching Meier, as a whole they can be considered upgrades to the group of Meier, Nieto, Bonino, Gadjovich, Gregor, ETC.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility this team winds up drafting outside the top 4 next year. And to me that’s the worst outlook I could imagine.

Why we added a bunch of dumb contracts is beyond me.

I got the contracts coming back for Karlsson were needed, and that Duclair trade was a no brainer. He think the hope is to not be viewed as tanking the season so we don’t incur hate from the NHL and adding players we could flip at the deadline for assets.

I can't see those players moving, but who knows. Some maybe.

Kunin isn't injured. Also Rutta and Borroughs are RHD that play either side. They'll be playing on the Right side. Eklund will likely be playing in the top 6 and Bords may very well be the 3C if he has a good camp.

There may not be any superstars but that's a DEEP forward group. Any way you mix it up, you're going to have guys who often play in top 6 roles playing on the 4th line. Couture and Hertl is still a top 15 1/2 punch at center.

I don't think this team will be good but you're making them look so much worse than they are.

We have a good prospect pool and one that has a lot players ready to make an impact very soon if not right away. If we're not starting to improve as soon as next year, than that's a failure. You can't rely on every top 10 pick to be a high impact player, and 4 years of intentionally losing will teach young players to not be competitive and will result in the team moving because this isn't a strong enough market to survive 10 years without competitive play

I do think this year and next are bottom dwelling teams!
25/26 will be where we start seeing the results and improvement.

I hope the sharks hold off on high priced FA till at least 25 off-season as I want to see 2 more top 5 picks.
That’s how good teams build their rosters (4-5 top 10 picks plus a bunch of late 1st/ 2nds as depth)

Sharks do need 2 more high caliber drafted Forwards (I.E. RW and C) and at least a Top RD pick and sharks need to finally spend a 1st on a goalie of the future! (They have never picked a goalie with a 1st round pick)

FYI Kunin might not be ready by the start of the season but won’t be out long.

They have a lot to work with honestly. You’d need literally every player to play well in order to at least be a mediocre team. It isn’t impossible. But overall there’s just too much that would have to go right for them.

That said, is there a chance that N.Sturm would be available at the TDL? I'm asking for Carolina, so it would be a late 1rst. A starter or proposal would be 24 or 25 1rst, RD Chatfield, F prospect?

For just Sturm? I mean yeah sharks would absolutely do that. Sturm is great as a utility guy and is on a great contract but he's worth at most a 2nd

I was saying a 1rst because hopefully Carolina wins the cup and that 1rst would be pick 32.

Just curious but, Hertl, Cooch, Smith, Bystedt, Bords… how many Cs do they need? We need some scoring wingers Imo.
