My guess is that with 1st overall pick, it’s a bit of a slam dunk. There was no debate over who to take there.

Matthews is ranked 6th all time on the goals per game list. Ovi is currently 7th. Bure is 5th.

Odds are, Ovi ends up being ranked higher than Matthews. But that is the company he is in, in terms of goal scoring. He is also turning quite elite defensively also.

That's an A+ pick, even if it was a no brainer at #1.
