Description

I listened to Tre/Keefe's press conferences.

A few takeaways:
1. They want to run with Matthews/Tavares/Nylander/Kampf for as long as possible.
2. Tre said no more UFA signings or PTOs and that he would rather fill the team with the younger players in the system.
3. Sheldon mentioned that he sees the LWs as Bertuzzi/Domi/Knies/Robertson/Gregor, and if Robertson plays well in camp, he sees one moving to the RW.
4. Chris Johnson mentioned that Jarnkrok is in the long-term plans as a defensive-minder winger to play with Nylander at C.
5. Matthews will play some PK, but Sheldon doesn't want him there. He thinks it takes time away from his 5v5 play.

How do these all make sense and lead to a team that can work? Unless they run a 20-man roster, this is going to be hard.

They plan on starting with a 20 man roster until they get some LTIR'S. That has been very clear all off season.

Quite possible someone gets injured in camp and this all sorts itself out. If they do start with a 20 man roster, it will need to be an 11-7 set up so they are not running short on the back end.

They can't do 11/7 and have the setup Keefe and Tre talked about.

The only way 11/7 works is if they don't sign Noah Gregor, Robertson doesn't make the team then they keep Timmins or trade him and bring up Benoit.
