Anaheim has apparently offered Zegras a bridge deal for 3-4 million per. That's a huge insult in my opinion. Copp and Compher make more for comparison. Red Wings need a highly skilled center like him.

Of course I'm giving Zegras all the confidence in the world. In each of the last two seasons he posted 20+ goals and 60+ points. He's done this all while playing on a VERY bad team. Plus, he's 22 years old and is still a few years away from hitting his prime. He's also a fairly well-rounded player.

So yes, I'm giving confidence to a known commodity over a player who's proven nothing at the pro level. Also, for the record, I never used the word superstar with Zegras, but it's not far fetched that he could grow in to a 30 goal 80ish point-getter.

I feel like you're talking out both sides of your mouth, a young guy who's had moderate success for a few years in the nhl being the "guy" on a bad team is all of a sudden going to light the world on fire in detroit playing behind larkin.

But a guy who's projected to do that or better who is to young to even make an nhl team has no value because he could possibly be a bust?

And not sure how defensively apt he is when he got 60+ and was a -24, meaning he was on the ice for at least 84 goals against.. and it doesn't seem like he played alot of PK while he spent 88 mins in the penalty box as a non fighting skill guy.

I don't know man, if I'm the red wings I trust my scouts and the leagues scouts who all had Danielson ranked in the top 20 in the deepest draft in a decade and not mortgage the future for a guy who's not as good as the guy who already plays 1C for detroit

Well-rounded? He's horrible defensively. He's good in the o-zone, and damn near a liability elsewhere. Wouldn't even consider Raymond + 1st + Johansson, let alone adding Nate Danielson. Using "unproven" to strike against any prospect, let alone ones that are freshly drafted, is stupid - it's not like prospects are complete lottery picks; players drafted in the first round are going to typically be better than players drafted in the later rounds.

First off, I said FAIRLY well-rounded. He's not horrible defensively; he's average defensively which is good for a player who's mainly an offense-driver.

Second, you thinking it's stupid to not value a "known" commodity over an unknown is in itself, stupid. It's not like we're talking about someone on the level of Bedard, Fantili or even Carlsson, so yeah, when you're presented the opportunity to get a player who's around 21 or 22 and producing at his level? You take it and run.

Your first mistake is ever citing plus/minus. Is there any validity to that stat? Only in very SPECIFIC circumstances and much context is needed. His plus/minus is on a team that's at the bottom of the league both defensively and in goaltending, so the fact you didn't even factor that in shows your pure lack of understanding in being able to evaluate anything. You've literally just proven to be someone not worth discussing anything with because you don't understand very basic concepts.

Second, he's average defensively. All advanced stats point to this which you can easily look up.

YOU take it and run. I, and most other people, are not you.

I take a top prospect, a 50P winger that's 21, and a 1st and run.

> all advanced stats point to this
>> 70 xGA, 2nd worst in the league.

Comparables are Strome and Vatrano; his teammates.
If you want to tell me that these guys are all average defensively (despite being one of the worst defensive teams in league history), then go ahead. I'll chuckle.

I made a few points but you kind of just focused in on the +/- part..

But yes plus minus may not show the whole picture but it does tell you somethings especially over an entire season.. like when you are 5v5 or on the PP more goals go in your net than the one you're shooting at...

I would also say that erik Karlsson is terrible defensively and he was a minus 30ish with 101 pts.. still a good player but not very good defensively, but he didn't have john Gibson to fall back on
