    They could get a player like him by waiting for the waiver market what's the point of helping out the lightning unless they are willing to give up a pick.

    Well he doesn't necessarily suck, I mean he's a borderline NHLer. I'm not arguing this trade for Tampa, I'm just saying that maybe they wanted to take a chance on him or see something in him. I see the point of your original comment, but it's a bit less extreme than that. It's a 1 year contract for a RHD making 1.4m. It's not like San Jose is taking a 3x5m cap dump for future considerations, that's all im sayin
