kuzy looked awful. basically all of Vegas' 5v5 advantage came from the top line getting completely caved in, everyone else either won or held serve in their minutes. to be fair to kuzy he took an absolutely nasty headshot at the beginning of the 2nd, but he didn't look too good before then either. oshie has looked how he has the entire year. does a lot of little things right but his finishing has been awful and has a tendency to make boneheaded plays in the D zone.

will second that lindgren looked incredible. McM, Protas, Strome, and McIlrath (!!!!!) looked very good to me as well. LJ and AA super shaky, top line atrocious, and Carlson and Sandin were iffy.

did they deserve to win that game, not really. there was enough good stuff going on though that it to me wasn't completely unwarranted. they definitely had stretches of controlling play and generating chances. vegas is also the best team in the league

will also say it was the best atmosphere at cap one for a game this year by far, really hope they keep up this good play

I was shocked of how much Carlson played - ~28 min. Definitely something to monitor as the season continues (especially if the Caps continue to be in playoff hunt)

Feel like i've been seeing it on a lot of ACGMs so what do people think about moving Kuzy without getting a center in return and running Strome-McM-Lapierre-Dowd for the rest of the year?

A little late but got to go to the Thanksgiving game and had some thoughts:
- Milano will never stop the no-look passes to the middle, whether it hurts the team or helps.
- Alexeyev’s goal was phenomenal. (not really but I’m happy for him). He also looks really good defensively.
- If the Edmundson-Jensen line can improve on communication, they’ll be a great pairing.
- Keep Lapierre up. Milano-Lapierre-Protas works very well as a line.
- Mantha looked like the only good thing the power play had to offer. Keep him there.
- Oshie. Finally.
- McMichael is the most unlucky player in the NHL. When the finishing finally comes, he’ll be a great 2C.
- Is the cure to male loneliness Dylan Strome?
- The feeling exiting the game was clearly different from an overtime game last year. When they won games last year it felt like there was no energy. But there was some genuine energy and excitement. All the credit to Carbery for that.

Why on earth is Carbery scratching Mantha for Phillips? Mantha has looked great, and Phillips barely looks like an NHLer, must we go through the whole Mantha charade again?

Awful loss. At the end of the day scoring one goal isn't going to cut it and we didn't generate enough chances to really deserve much more than that. PP continues its historically bad streak. You just kept expecting them to finally turn the screws and take over that game but it never came. Not a good sign for next game when they play an actually good team!

I still think the biggest problem is we just don't generate anything from our D unless it's Carlson. So few clean passes through the neutral zone to start transitions, so many shots from the point blasted wide or into shin pads, so many blind passes to no one in the middle of the ice after pinching down the wall. Would like to get Kuzy on to the wing and McM back at center as well and split up Carlson and Sandin.

Horrible loss and very boring to watch

Ovi is on pace for just over 20 goals this season...I know we are only 18 games in, but still...anyone else getting concerned?

Same reason they blamed Samsonov for 3 years. Everyone wants a scapegoat and now they've found a guy. Samsonov, Mantha, Jensen, and now Kuemper. Important to note: He's been far from great, with an .894 sv%, but his defense has certainly failed him over the last few games.

Assuming his shooting percentage goes up a bit (which it should), it'll be fine. 25 a year over the next 3 years gets him 897.

i get the sentiment but laviolette has the rangers 1st in the league and lafreniere finally looking like a #1 pick ... he had his faults here but i would put the blame for mantha's performance last year at ~80% on mantha himself

Almost done with the west trip thank god, don't know how much more my sleep schedule can take. Another frustrating game, doubly so because I thought when they did things well they did them as well as they have the entire season but when they were bad oh man were they bad. Took the second period completely off which just can't happen. Kuzy disastrous again although Carbery may have finally realized it by moving him to 4c. Edmundson a real stinker as well. Would roll with the lines that ended the game in AZ. Ovi-McM-Wilson, Protas-Strome-Mantha, Milano-Dowd-Lappy, Malenstyn-Kuzy-NAK.

I think I have been a little more "forgiving" with Kuzy compared to other Caps fans. I think he has top-tier skill, but just looks uninterested / not engaged (somewhat like Ovi recently, but that's a different story).

After this west coast trip, I am pretty done with Kuzy though. The team absolutely needs him to step up, but he has been a disaster. The Caps need to find a way to move him before heading into next year.
