San Jose Trade

Created by: Celtics21
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 21, 2023
Published: Oct. 21, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
You would rotate Lucic, Lauko, and Geekie on the fourth line. Probably allow Heinen to move on if you can acquire someone like Duclair
Trades
BOS
  1. Duclair, Anthony
Additional Details:
San Jose needs a defenseman who can carry the puck out of the defensive zone or it’s going to be hard to assess much. They get a good prospect in Harrison with a really nice shot. Would be willing to substitute a few prospects in the same range 5 through 15
SJS
  1. Grzelcyk, Matt
  2. Harrison, Brett
Additional Details:
Duclair is an interesting fit though losing the stability of Grz is a tad painful. Harrison is a good prospect, but Lysell and Merkulov are ahead of him. I kind of wish they would bury Forbort to give Lohrei a shot, but they seem to value his PK stability.

If there is one thing the Sharks do not need, it is more LD.

Having watched them play multiple times now, they need a defenseman that can carry the puck out of the d zone. They are leaving their goaltenders exposed badly. Where do you think their D stands in the league?

They're tanking so it doesn't really matter and Grzelcyk's a rental. From the Bruins' side, Lohrei isn't ready so they shouldn't trade Grzelcyk yet.

What guy below said is correct, and the Sharks D is easily bottom 5, just like their forward group and their goaltending. However, they do have several LD prospects that need ice time to develop that Grzelcyk would take away.

I guess. I’d suggest bottom 5 d is a bit inflationary. More like bottom 1. I do believe bringing stability and a person they can learn from would be helpful. I guess Rutta is that, but he’s not the soundest of players. There are different aspects of development that seem to be put on the back burner, but teaching and mentoring is important atleast to me

Threw the concept out there. Thanks for the feedback

So is Duclair.

Lohrei’s readiness is no different than Poitras or Beecher. They can learn with veterans around them.

If you want stability and a veteran to learn from, you have Vlasic.

You also have Rutta who simply is bad at this point.

None of San Jose’s defenders appears to be capable of getting the puck out of the d zone consistently.

It’ll be interesting to see how they overcome it through the year.

That's the neat part, they won't. I was pretty hopeful that the team wouldn't be as bad as people expected, but they are somehow worse than everyone expected. They could genuinely finish the year with less than 40 points,

The hope is Henry Thrun can do it. Watched him at Harvard quite bit and I think it aligns with his skill set, but turning projection into actual at this level is interesting. Every game I’ve watched, I felt sorry for the goaltender especially that Carolina game.

Is that really protecting the kids? Putting them in a situation where they will lose consistently. The objective of losing is tied to securing people outside the org instead of within it

Grier signed lots of vets. Eklund, Bordeleau and other play a bit. if things are really bad by christmas you send them down and call up the Simek's and Lindblom. trade a few of the UFA for some other AHL/nhl guys to close the season out.
