Alot of underpayments.

Robertson suddenly becomes a 3rd liner and only gets 800k, Liljegren gets an 100k raise when he'll have arbitration rights? McMann will suddenly make the team at 28 yrs old? Hanifan takes just 6.5mil to be a 2nd pairing guy? Timmins will suddenly learn defense and be a 1st pairing guy? etc.....

All in some fantasy to maintain the same cap structure that has never worked with 4 forwards getting almost 60% of the cap?

What leverage does Robertson have in signing a deal? The guy has 31 NHL games across 4 seasons, how is he gonna argue he deserves more lmfao

Same leverage that you think hes a good 3rd liner, none. But every RFA has to gets a 10% raise. but ultimately its a team created to bask in the glory of the 4, with tons of underpayments, bad pairings, and unrealistic expectations as I said above.

I don't think he's a good 3rd liner, I think he'll make the team and have a shot at it. Whether he's good or not is up to him. And I forgot to bump the salary cap to 87, so you have about 4 mil to spread among the UFA signings I made. Give Hanifin another 1-1.5 mil, Liljegren another mil, and bump Robertson up to a 1x1 if it makes you happy.

But its not just underpyaments, its expectations that robertson, minten, mcmann, timmins, liljegren, montebault, cowan, etc.... all not just achieve expectations but exceed them. Its unrealistic to think that timmins/liljegren all of a sudden are good enough for 3-7 more minutes a game, etc.... Its the idea that this team is better than what we have or have had. Its basically a team of 4 forwards, an average defense AT BEST and a lot of question marks, all to maintain this regular season offensive powerhouse

Its just kind of crazy because we've seen this for so many years, its like groundhog day that we'll just plug some young guys/band aids/duct tape in there and they'll be good, because we cant afford to do anything else because of the cap structure

Well the Leafs kinda made their bed when they signed Tavares. Unless they are moving on from Nylander, that's how it's gonna be i dunno what to tell ya
