they get a guy who is one season removed from being the best winger and getting 85 assists and 115 points for a player with great upside who hasnt worked out. we move on from kakko and get a cost efficent top line winger in his place. yes, the retention is huge. yes the picks are insane. but, the value and idea is there imo

No way CGY retains 8 years of salary of 50% salary. That's insane.

Not only will Calgary not retain 50%, no chance NYR give up that package for an underperforming player. He has not been good at all since he left Barkov's side.

If you think his value is as high as it was in 2021, then Rangers could just send Wheeler and a 1st for him. Cuz Wheeler put up back to back 91 point seasons, so he MUST still have crazy good value.
