Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 9, 2023
Published: Nov. 9, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Why Toronto Does This:

New guys:
McLeod can play center or wing so more versatility and is young.
Bouchard is essentially a young Klingberg but he could still improve defensively and if he does he could be a top pairing guy.
Kulak is more of the puck moving D Toronto likes than McCabe.
Skinner is just a cheaper goalie and different look in net for them.

Old guys:
Bertuzzi hasn't been a great fit.
Klingberg hasn't been a great fit.
Sammy needs a change of scenery.
McCabe hasn't been a good fit.

Why Edmonton Does it:

New Guys:
Bert is a #1LW, he's shown flashes in Toronto but 10 points in 7 playoff games last year, 30 goals the year before, 40 goal pace the year before that. He clearly is a Hyman type guy who can thrive with Connor or Leon at $2.75M he is a complete steal.
Klingberg is just an older Bouchard. He will be better than Bouchard on the PP and just as bad defensively, can be a $1M guy for the next few years as a #6 and PP1 QB.
McCabe was analytically a top 2 D in Chicago and Buffalo. Not working in Toronto but a new system in Edmonton that is much simpler could help him.
Sammy is cheaper and new look in net.
McCann is someone Holland really wants according to numerous insiders.
$2.25M in cap space creates flexibility for new moves while arguably making today's team better.

Old guys:
Bouchard is making loads of mistakes. The next one might be the massive deal he gets next summer.
Kulak has looked horrible this year, older, signed long-term. Good time to trade.
Skinner hasn't looked good. New team could help.
McLeod, he's fine, just hasn't been finishing but now there are multiple reports the team has already decided to move on from him.

Wow so Edmonton's garbage D is the problem, So yeah they take on another garbage Dman in Klingberg.

Sorry but Tyler Bertuzzi isn't waiving his NMC from a current playoff team in Toronto, For an Edmonton team that more than likely could miss the playoffs.

laugh laugh Bouchard > Klingberg, Zero chance in hell of ken Holland making this trade.

There are just too many moving pieces in this deal. 2 teams are turning over a huge chunk of their roster and not getting any better.
Too unrealistic.

Ceci, Klingberg, and Nurse anchoring a top 4 D In front of Ilya Samsonov!. What could possibly go wrong?

Sabres can only retain on 2 contracts i believe
I think that’s the limit for every team

But for a 1st…. Sure, no problem
Idk that EDM gives up a 1st though for it
