Vladar doesn't get no 2nd round pick.

And fat chance i see Arizona on Noah Hanifins 8 team no trade list. he's not leaving Calgary for a worse Arizona team.

ARI’s doing better than CGY Mo, but not for long

Don’t think ARi needs retention in Hanifin, especially if we took Dumba back to try him out and see if he’ll sign a low ball Home Town Discount extension

Why Travis Barron!?

Well get much more for Tanev

Vladar is a below average back-up goalie. He's worth a 4th, especially with that cap-hit.

No team is giving a 2nd for .844sv% making $2.2M.

CGY fans seem to think he's this future Vezina winner.

Pens say no, obviously, but they also didn't get the memo that Jarry is only going to miss a couple of games.

Vladar just turned 26, so he does have like a 10-14 year window to win it lol

Goalies are either Hot or they're Not, so trying to say whether a Goalie is good or not is nearly impossible. It changes from game to game, week to week, month to month and season to season depending on what Team they play for, whether they have any injuries and/or what's going on in their personal lives.

Markstrom was a Great Goalie and now, not so much, right!? John Gibson's the same, Great and then slumped and now he's back to Great this season again so far. Even Saros isn't that Great this season. IOW, Consistency & Reliability in Goaltending is rare, hence why they generally don't bring back a ton in value via Trade

Here's the thing. Goaltending can definitely be a rollercoaster, especially when you're not one of the handful of elite goalies. That said, Vladar is 26 and still hasn't had even close to the top part of the rollercoaster. I'm not sure if you heeded my advice and did a deep dive into his stats, but his best has been average goaltending as a backup three years ago.

He's overpaid and NO TEAM is going to give a 2nd round pick to a below-average performing back-up goalie making $2.2M. They're just not. Anyone thinking he's worth a 2nd is simply being a homer.

Have you ever watched Vladar play or are you solely going off of stats only!? Did you read my response yesterday and is there any validity to a Goalie standing there for minutes at a time going cold and never getting in to a rhythm or really in to the game, only to face a high danger chance right away!??

Vladar almost stole the Starting Goalie spot from Markstrom last season and may still do it yet this season. We're 2-1 with Vladar vs. 2-6 with Markstrom in net and yet Markstrom has the better underlying statistics... Perhaps we've used Vladar against lesser Teams, but I don't think that's it.

I can't argue that his value is down and he wouldn't fetch a 2nd right now, but he's a Future Starter, Injuries happen and $2.2mil is Chump Change in the Big Picture, so just be patient, watch and see, because you obviously don't know Vladar, you seem to only care and go by stats

I have watched Vladar play. Have I watched him a ton? No, I won't pretend to. I'm not saying he doesn't have some strengths, but at 26 years old? He's close to what he is at this point. 26 isn't old, but most 26 year old goalies who are legit starters have at least shown those abilities by now.

Georgiev is a good example at 27 years old now, but his first starting job was at 26. Out of his five seasons with the Rangers, he put together four seasons of either average or above average goaltending. He showed the starter ability and the ability to steal games. Georgiev and Vladar are a year apart in age, and while Georgiev has a few years of experience on Vladar, he's shown the goods on a consistent basis. Vladar has not.

To your first statement, yes, goalies hate not seeing shots, but that's such tenuous argument to make.

Look, you love your team and your players. That's fine, but you're grasping at straws here. You're looking for angles and making lots of excuses over looking at hard factual stats and results. At this point in his career his ceiling potential is probably an above average back-up goalie and I'm saying that to be kind.

EDIT: I'm not saying this to be rude, but he's worth a 4th as-is and a 3rd with $1M retained.

No worries, I appreciate the conversation so long as it isn't condescending, but we've already addressed that and you've been a RoskStar since

Vladar literally just turned 26 and in all fairness, NYR and COL were much better Teams. Anyways, there's no need or rush for us to dump Vladar just yet, and I agree he wouldn't go for what we want right now, but be patient and I'm sure he'll improve those stats and his value very shortly. I believe he's in net tonight against TOR, so we'll see. I prefer Vladar in net against Elite Scorers because of his Cat like "Felix Potvin" Reflexes more than the Positionally Correct and Huge Markstrom anyways. Vladar's 6'6 but he's not the same size or style of Goalie
