Jets additions

Created by: VibeDoctor98
Team: 2023-24 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 9, 2023
Published: Nov. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would require Calgary to take on about half of the lindholm contract (he’s a UFA at the end of the year). Really obsessed with getting Lindholm on this team and the Peeke trade was just to add some size and get Schmidt off a regular spot.

Lindholm is an expiring UFA, I don’t see how much value calgary can expect judging by the market for guys like him. Also I don’t understand how you can say Johnson is worth well more than Appleton and 2nd but say a package with him, prospects and a 3rd is well less than Lindholm’s worth.

Elias Lindholm just put up 146 points in 162 games these past two seasons. He's easily a 1C/2C who's worth more than 2 middling prospects.

And Kent Johnson was a 5th overall pick. Appleton is a 6th round pick plus a 2nd doesn't get you a caliber player like Kent Johnson

No one doubts how good Lindholm is, it’s the fact that he’s gonna be owed a huge contract after this. I could see the 2nd being bumped up to a 1st for Johnson but Appleton being worth a 4th doesn’t make any sense, he was traded for a 4th last year and is having a career year. He also fills a much needed role for Columbus which has had massive troubles on the right side so far. Finally if Johnson is worth so much, how is that Lindholm trade not fair?

The Jackets issues are worse than a middle 6RW and they're made far worse long term by trading KJ away. He's not going anywhere.

I wouldn’t trade Johnson either but It’s been rumoured all off-season that they want him traded.

By places with zero credibility. Listen to the player and the team and nobody involved is saying anything that even remotely signals that a trade is being considered.

GM’s lie in these situations all the time, why wouldn’t they? Reporters and GMs both do their fair share of stretching the truth. Looking just at the facts, players in situations like Johnson tend to be traded. That outcome is far from a certainty but definitely a possibility.

Ugh, literally always the same response to **** rumors around the Jackets that are refuted by the player, coach, GM, team President, and every single other credible source is "Well those people just lie" so that people can continue to perpetuate said **** rumors. He's getting needed development time in Cleveland. It's simple.

If we were to believe every stupid rumor that gets started about the Jackets by idiots who don't have actual sources then Laine, Werenski, Boone, Sillinger, KJ, 3rd OA that became Fantilli, Jiricek, and Texier all would have been traded.

Columbus sending Johnson down has everything to do with proper development; not them giving up on him.
Apples chemistry and success with Lows and Nino means he should stay.
I would love Lindholm in Winnipeg, but you're likely looking at a 1st, plus a better prospect than Torgersson, who will likely be nothing more than a third liner.

Johnson is being sent to Calgary in this trade was a stand in for a first. Only reason I really added that was because it’s rumoured that Calgary is interested in him.

I actually do not like it for the Jets. A lot of people are hypothetically trading Chisholm and I'm not sure it's something I want to do if I'm the Jets. Some scouts have Chisholm being comparable to Devon Toews, and trading that sort of player is what gets GMs fired. https://twitter.com/JhanHky/status/1533909212870455298

I like Chisholm enough but he’s been a purely offensive guy. Devon Teows is one of the best defensive players in the league
