Description

First of all, Ken Holland needs to be fired, he has shown time and time again he cannot fix the defense, goaltending or depth scoring. Someone new needs to be in charge.

It's not the best solution, but Jay Woodcroft prolly also needs to be fired as it's the easiest way to try and fix the team in the short term, get a Veteran coach behind the bench that's not scared to hold his players accountable and bench them if they aren't performing.

The Oilers need bargain contracts with them not having cap space, so reshaping the team will be very hard to do and borderline impossible if I'm being honest. This season is really just hope the team can turn it around under new coaching because any GM is in for a rough time with the cap situation.

And as much as I'd love to add a goaltender, there simply aren't any that make sense or they are just stop gaps. IMO EDM just has to hope Skinner and campbell can turn it around and give them a chance to win under new coaching.

Additional Details:

POJ has fallen out of favor in Pittsburgh as he's behind the likes of Ryan Shea and maybe even Jon Ludwig on the depth chart, he's a prime candidate for a change of scenery.

POJ is a good young OFD on a cheap contract and the Oilers could use a bit more speed and offense from the back end which POJ brings.

Additional Details:

Grubbe is a good defense 1st forward who projects to potentially be a 4th liner if he reaches the NHL. Some added youth and size to the pens system and Grubbe is 6'3 and only 20.

Duclair, Anthony ($1,500,000 retained)
Sturm, Nico

Additional Details:

Sturm is a good bottom 6 center who is also a good penalty killer, now he won't improve your bottom 6 scoring which is an issue in EDM but he will help the bottom 6 defense and PK which is important for that bottom 6.

Duclair adds more speed and another scoring piece to the top 9 which is also badly needed since Holloway has struggled and you simply can't have Sam Gagner take a top 9 spot.

2024 2nd round pick (EDM)

Additional Details:

Foegele goes back for cap reasons.

Tullio is a young playmaking forward, he's undersized but has top 9 potential if his size doesn't get in his way. He would be able to get some good ice time with the Sharks as they continue the rebuild and to load up on prospects.

Bouchard should be 3RD, not 1RD!
POJ doesn't help the Oilers, their weakness is RD. Specifically 1RD. Kulak isn't playing top 4 RD full-time!

Better targets are guys like Dumba or Tanev with cap retention(50-75%). They've got top 4 experience and could bounce back playing with with Nurse or Ekholm. Has to be made sooner than later, re-evaluate the D again near the TDL.

1 Holland’s gone at the end of the season so he won’t be fired when he is already done.

2 Woodcroft has no business coaching this team. He belongs in the AHL.

3 Joseph does nothing for this team.

4 We don’t need to give any picks to the other bad team in our division.

SJ not retaining on Duclair and using their last spot for that return. Also Grier has been trading all of our small players. He passed small players up in the draft. He's not trading 2 of his better assets for a small player as a centerpiece and a pendig UFA
