I don't see why TO would do this. Peeke isn't very good. And there is no need for Roslovic. I would be happy to see Klingberg go but I doubt Treliving will pay to move him for much, that would be way too much egg on the face for him to do. For better or worse they have Klingberg or move him as a cap maneuver as part of a bigger trade.

Leafs decline

I dunno about that.

Peeke is kind of the sort of player the Leafs need in the back end.... nothing flashy, and certainly is a physical element, who is signed until 2025.

Roslovic could gives the Leafs all sorts of options on how to construct the top 9..... and since he can play C, would give the Buds 5 legit centremen. Roslovic's decrease in ice time is more a function of Fantelli, Johnston and Sillinger (younger and simply better) than an indictment on his play. Solid two-way player good for 40 points.

All that for a contract dump and a 1st? I consider that. I consider that big time.

Peeke is solid, but probably not a top 4 D at this time. Still on the younger side. Hard to say he is no good when the team last year was terrible. People on CF say the same thing about Connor Murphy, yet, I say he is one of the top 10 stay at home D in the league. Bad teams don't do decent players justice.

Roslovic I see the point. But, I counter that with saying this simply put ls Reaves in the press box, and either Roslovic or Jarnkrok tale that 4th line roll - which in turn significantly improves not only the defensive play of that line, but it would actually be a bit of an offensive threat as well.

I say this deal would have to be considered.

Yeah they don’t pay the difference between a 1st and 2 3rds in value to dump a guy terrible asset management we’d waive him if he has that much negative value

OK. So the Leafs waive him. Who takes him? That is $3 million in dead cap space, which is almost worse than playing him right now.

Am I a fan of moving the 1st? Absolutely not. But the Klingberg experiment (one I never liked) has died a horrible death - and for a team in win now mode, ya pay to play. Peeke as a 3rd pairing guy? I do that. Roslovic, as I said last, presents options.

This deal as constructed has merit imo.

Ummmmm..... have you looked at cap situations?

If you think that, you need to do some homework.

Dumping Klingberg can be done, but if you think that will be for pennies on the dollar, well, you are mistaking.

It takes a 3rd to dump each of them maybe 2 3rds for klingberg and reaves or a first to dump all of them I’ve got several Chicago accepts for sending a 1st and a 3rd to them for Mrazek with all 3 of them

Oh, I have to disagree here..... more than a 3rd in this climate to dump those contracts.

But, if the Hawks fans wanna do that.... gotta say sign up. Not that I would ever want Mrzarek back.... that was a tire fire.

The whole "best player on bad teams would be great on better team" ideal is just silly. Murphy wasn't as good as McCabe was last year and McCabe has been often the worst defenceman on TO. He's constantly out of position looking for big hits. If these guys on bad teams were as good as people say, those teams wouldn't be as bad as they were. Peeke was destroyed when playing top 4 minutes. He was the 8th defenceman at the beginning of the year for Columbus. He's not good, he's Benoit

You also cannot look at players in a microcosm.

Do they fit needs, systems. Does their skill set possibly augment another's?

Maybe that explains JVR's fountain of youth season?

Or Wheeler as a Ranger?

Peeke fits a need, he fits a system, and with Giordano, learns.

What a horrible idea.
