Full Rebuild

Description
In this scenario, Calgary finally decides to tear out down and do a full Rebuild. Is it likely Calgary does this? Probably not.

Since this is a full rebuild and tear down, I decided to trade all pending UFAs this season and then players with value and term next season.

Certain players I don't feel can be traded with either their contracts or trade protection. Those players are Huberdeau, Kadri, Markstrom and Coleman. Potentially Coleman and Markstrom could bring some value in their final years but decided not to bother with them right now.

The idea is to be bad, give young players opportunity and draft high end talent is hopes to turn it around in 3-5 years.

Some of the players acquired that I don't consider to be part of the long term plan are Peeke, Bean and Hague. They are just placeholders with team control until younger players are ready.

2024 NHL Entry Draft
#3 Artyom Levshunov
#15 Berkley Catton
#21 Adam Jecho
#26 Matvei Shuravin
#31 Tanner Howe
#32 Beckett Sennecke

I have made some of the teams with the corresponding moves so people can see how they would look with these moves.
I made:

Vancouver 2024 - Chabot
New York Islanders 2024 - Mangiapane
Toronto 2023 - Tanev

I just don't see Columbus, with a lame duck GM and no hope of the playoffs, spending all that on a player they can just make an offer to as a free agent this summer.

Cause Lindholm likely doesn't hit free agency. Very good chance that any team he gets traded to, an extension will be negotiated before the trade with that team. That's the only way Calgary can get the best return for him. Until he states he wants to test free agency, I expect that any team he gets traded to will sign him to an extension.

A couple of little things I would change like Niemela is one of the leafs best prospects so the pick protection would be more like top 16 protected. A 1st and wahlstrom is alot for a player not playing very good for the past year and a bit. And Vegas might be more willing to move on from Martinez because he is making 5mil other than that pretty good.

Yeah thinking back on the Toronto trade, Niemela and a 1st might be a bit rich. Adding the protection to top 16 would be fair. Maybe Calgary adds a depth pick as well.
I would definitely take out Wahlstrom from the Mang trade. I was thinking 2 2nds would be better but preferred a 1st.
Martinez isn't going to waive for Calgary. He's also still a very effective player. I think improving on Hague would make this team better than trying to improve on Martinez. Also Hague would have more value for Calgary.

The Caps have 5 guys on the left side under the age of 26 that have all played this year and looked good. No need to buy for a rental on Zadorov, unless we lose a couple defenseman for the year.
