1.) We don't have cap issues.

2.) Sean Couturier is worth about 3 middle round first picks and then some, depending on the team. Not for a scrub player.

You clearly didn't consult the Flyers cap outlook before making asinine deals with them

He was 215th in point this year - Stempniak -163rd
He was 169th in points last year Stempniak -88th
I know its not all about points.. but the offense that Stempniak adds helps his lack of D, which isnt that bad anyway.
Also PHI has $6 mil in cap space and 4 roster players left to sign. This deal would add 1.8 mil in Cap relief

1) Little bit of a Cap issue
2) Hes not worth what you have over valued him at. 3 first round picks is ludicrous. Stempniak is not your average scrub when he gets those numbers consistently on new teams and usually on the 3rd line.

You have no concept of what Couturier does, clearly. Or how to value him. This is way off base.

Best 5v5 player on the team. Top guy in shot Suppressed in the Leauge. Great PK guy.

Also never scored more than 39 points in 6 seasons. Think that will bring in 3 first round picks? I might have undervalued him a little. But you are putting him in Tavares or Toews level. No way hes worth more than 1 1st.

Great job with the analysis on Couturier. CF% rel : 4.0 ; EV Shots Suppressed/hr = 8/10. in the 80th percentile of shots suppressed/hr. 55% on the face off circle

Marcus Johansen just went for a 2nd and a 3rd... no way Couterier goes for 3 first rounders. But he is also worth more than Lee Stepniak. Probably more realistic trade would be Stepniak and a 1st or someone like Tuevo and a 3rd.

just because an idiot GM that cannot manage cap gets peanuts back, doesn't mean that Couturier's value gets lowered

Sorry i just read you're value on Couturier and I strongly disagree. 3 first round picks? He has never been an offensive threat. I think you're under valuing a first round pick. Yes he is good defensively. But his best offensive season was 39 points. When you have the defense of a first line center but the offense of a third liner, you are not worth 3 first round picks. 3 first round picks means the player is an outstanding talent. Elite level. Couturier has the defense, he never broke out offensively. Especially a guy who has never passed 15 goals and hasn't stayed healthy the past 2 seasons.

I don't care how many points he scores he's our best defensive center and he's only 24 years old. Also the Flyers will most likely be adding 3-4 players on their ELCs this season and won't have any problems with the cap because of that.

I'd rather keep Couturier than make either of those trades.

Man. I guess when you only have players like Matt Read/Dale Weise/Max Talbot/Michael Raffl on your line, I guess it's hard to put up points.

Couturier scored 6 fewer points in 16 fewer games and is 24 years old. The Flyers will be keeping their ELITE defensive center instead of trading him for a 34 year old. Also the Flyers will be adding 3-4 players on their ELCs, so they won't be having any cap issues.
