Tanev would be a strong depth D for a playoff run.

Not at that price. The Bruins, as is, should have either Lohrei or Grzelcyk as the 7th D. From my perspective, keeping Grzelcyk is basically the path to keep depth, so as long as we don’t do the bad first deal … there is no issue.

We could use a top 6 winger without giving him up.

Insightful commentary as usual. Lol

He put a lot less words in it, but it’s still a true statement. Boston isn’t going to gut its core to get a forward who’s been struggling and removes their flexibility to secure a FA without gutting an already gutted farm system. They can wait until next offseason when they have the cap room and figure it out.

Trading Coyle for Laine is dumb for multiple reasons. The most obvious of which is downgrading a position that was of the most concern going into the year for a one dimensional wing that might be the only player in the league that could give Patrick Kane a run for title of worst defensive player in the league the last decade.

Boston does not have the ability to go after large contract this year without decimating the roster and Laine is not the guy you decimate a roster for.

The offer to Calgary does not even get Zadorov with retention, Tanev is miles better than Zadorov. They don’t need him anyway. The RD is set and has been a strength top to bottom.

With Lohrei and Poitras up Boston is left with one prospect that has the potential to play in upper half of the roster. No sane person trades him for Morgan Frost. There are better options to use him on. I like Frost as an option to target. But they should not use Lysell to do it.

The entire concept is something a 12 year old does on a video game where defense, logic, roster management are not a thing.

It doesn’t make the team better.

Happy now?

Heck no. I want nothing to do with Laine. I am not paying that much for a guy who keeps burning his way through teams and maybe puts in a few goals.
