The UFA route for a 1RW

Created by: GiggywithGibby
Team: 2024-25 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 24, 2023
Published: Nov. 20, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As can be seen, plenty of cap space to go around for Nylander. Maybe toss a 3rd to Toronto for his signing rights to lower the cap hit.

There's synergy issues with this lineup, Zegras doesn't seem to work with Carlsson, mcTavish shouldn't have to be the puck digger but he would be on that line, Killorn doesn't really have the footapeed to be on the top line with this system, and I think that's signing is going to haunt us.

Wouldn't hold out hope on that one. Should be plenty of talent in ufa this season though. Also it would have to be a sign and trade to lower his cap hit.

Yeah, Reinharts up this year too, it's a good UFA class and Anaheim's got deep pockets to chase someone. We'll see how the year progresses. I'm not convinced Nylander sticks around in Toronto though, it'll hamstring the roster again to try and resign him.

Okay, you're right about the cap. I am sold haha. Only thing is that I think he will push over 11 mil on the open market. Still leaves us with room according to my very quick math, but that is where we start to creep into cap restrictiveness, not hell, just restrictiveness

I could 100% see Anaheim throw the bag ar Nylander this summer. I think Nylander has mathematically played himself out of Toronto and good for him, go get that bag. Anaheim has the cap space and and a roster full of young guys on ELC's. Eventually they will come across the problem of resigning all their young stars to reasonable deals, but man would I love to see Nylander in Anaheim and I think Nylander would love it in sunny California.

Good thing Willy is resigning and if he makes it to free agency he makes 11M minimum I wouldn’t be surprised if Chicago threw 13 at the guy for 2 years

Leafs have tons of cap space too. Nylander isn't going anywhere unless Treliving decides to get rid of him. Which would be brain dead.

But yeah, depending on who re signs, the ufa crop is elite.

Leafs have more cap space than the Ducks next year. Nylander doesn't want to go anywhere.

That may be so, but the Ducks have 14 players signed for next year, the Leafs only have 10, and notable signing needs include #1RHD and #1G

Woll and liljegren. Leafs also have Cowan, minten, mcmann, Steeves and Holmberg all under 900k not included. Robertson and liljegren are their only notable rfa's. Fitting Nylander shouldn't be an issue.
