1.
TOR
  1. Oleksiak, Jamie
  2. Yamamoto, Kailer
Additional Details:
This is a move that makes sense for both sides.

Seattle moves off the longterm deal on a D whose game seems to have taken a step back this year and who is on the wrong side of 30.

Toronto gets a big D who plays the style of hockey that Treliving likes.

Seattle gets back a guy who has been a top 3 DFD in the league the last 3 seasons but has clearly taken a step back this year. He likely improves the team's overall defense this season and has no commitment past this year.

Domi for Yamamoto clears cap for Toronto and improves Seattle

    Additional Details:
Makes sense for Edmonton to move him if they are out of the playoff picture. He's 33 signed till he is 37.

No incentive to trade Dewar for a 5th. If the Wild can't get more they're much better off keeping him.

What will the Leafs future be in 2026 and 2027 when they will not be drafting any players in the 1st 2 rounds in either 2024 or 2025 draft? Last time I looked the farm team wasn't exactly loaded with talent. I suppose if you want to completely tear down the team in 3 years, then maybe make these moves?

It's a B+ prospect, a 26y old the Oilers are rumours to be very high on (McMann), a potential top 2D (if he can stay healthy) and a 3rd for a 33 year old D who is a -3 signed till he's 37 at $6M is pretty generous. It's far above market when you look at trades for similar contracts and similar players at a similar age like the McDonaugh deal.

Edmonton can keep him if they want and Toronto can just grab Zadorov with those assets and make another move with the extra cap space without being tied down for another 2 years after this one.

If Edmonton wants to improve this summer moving out Ekholm then paying to move our Campbell frees up $15M since the cap isn't going up for them.

Kinda makes you wonder why you want to trade for the 33 year old D who is a -3 signed til he's 37 at 6M.
