There's no incentive for Winnipeg to do that. The Jets don't have the top of the lineup depth to allow them to turn a top sixer into pieces, including one piece that will be looking for a large long term raise.

Sabres aren’t doing ANY of this nonsense
ESPECIALLY not the Seattle trade

Grubauer would be a great fit on the Leafs though! 🤣🤣🤣

Ehlers will still be under contract for another year, has committed long term to the Jets in the past and is more likely to do so in the future and is the best player in the entire deal by far.

Ron Francis would laugh so hard he's crying, and then hang up the phone.

A goalie making 6m per for several more years, with a sub .900 save percentage? That's not a player that anybody is looking for. Maybe there's some advanced stats that can paint grubauer in a better light (is it all high danger, what's his goals against above expected...). At the end of the day, I can see Francis say that he's not gonna trade a first to move grubauer, but that means- he's keeping grubauer.

STILL gonna demand a HUGE contract
So what if it’s 1 year later??

Well, he's the better player as well. So, why shorten your team control of a player, when they're is nu reason to, while downgrading that player as well. It makes no sense.

There's simply no reason for Winnipeg to convert a good top 6 player into parts that do nothing for them.

It's just a bad idea that's all.

He's not giving up a 1st round pick and one of their better prospects for an unproven goalie and another prospect, and to get rid of Gru's contract. I'm with you in that he's not been nearly as good in Seattle as he was in Colorado, and even Washington in spot duty, but I can not see Ron Francis giving up THAT much to get rid of the contract.
