Where's the compensation for three years of that much retention on Laine?

I guess there could be compensation, or the Flyers just eat the whole salary. Not sure I would do it without the retention. I think Atkinson and Laughton give the jackets a lot more than Laine and Rosolvic will give the Flyers

Laine would be on the bench for half the year under Torts

Cap space in a cap league matters at least as much as player fit. No team retains 3.5+ for more than a year except in truly specific circumstances, like the Sharks stripping down and moving out Burns. Even Karlsson was only retained 1.5/year.

Now that you say that I believe you are correct so I take back that trade because I dont want him at that price and like someone said Torts would have a suite renamed after Laine because thats how much time he would be in it.

If only we had real data we could look up for Laine playing under Torts.
