If NYR are moving Trouba it’s to move on from that contract so they won’t get full value for him. Can’t trade the captain when he’s still playing well in the eyes of the coach/org, he leads the team in average ice time.

Look at the past 2 rangers captains... traded. Also 15 team no trade like gotta assume all Canadian teams are there and bottom feeders like sj AZ Ana ect so not too many options and Dallas has a good amount of Cao next year

They don’t need to move the contract. You could say this about any contract in the NHL or any other sport. Now if the rangers went out and signed a bunch of players and were over the cap that’s “needing” to move a contract. But thankfully there’s currently no reason to move him for anything less than full value and even then it’s probably a bad idea if they are trying to win a cup. If the leafs are trading nylander, marner or Matthews… are they not getting full value because it’s obvious to move out a big cap hit?

No the leafs wouldn’t get full value. Just like EDM wouldn’t for Mcdavid or Draisaitl.

What are you talking about?! No they didn’t . They are currently under the cap and have been since the summer. Never signed a bunch of guys and went over the cap like TB did a few seasons back. There’s NO need to move Trouba

Oh I see. Well technically the trade could happen before signings but I get what you’re saying. I don’t see them trading him or panarin. Kreider is the likely candidate if anyone goes. Trouba is needed more than nylander in NY.

Do you actually think kreider would go before trouba? Serious question. I think imo kreider is too valuable with his net front abilities. Trouba is just a big hitter.

I do. Kreider is absolutely the best net front in the league which is also why moving him will be easy at a 6m cap hit. Trouba, while he has the 8m cap hit, who in the league can do what he does? What he brings is not like what fox/Makar bring. But it’s far more than the dumba/klingberg/etc. not to mention when his deal is done I see him resigning while kreider will likely need to be forced down the lineup, off the pp1, etc. maybe he would be good for 3rd line roles. But if I have to pick one guy to move it’s kreider. And not because he isn’t valuable
