Straps the Leafs future. I don’t think either guy extends at a palatable number. Fits really nice for the Flames as Minten would push for minutes in the near future and Cowan would have time to develop. Don’t see Toronto moving those pieces though

At that price I think it definitely requires lindholm extend. Idk that number. But only 1 year of concern bc tavares comes off after it. This team needs to be in win now mode. I think this trade puts them as cup favourites.

Agreed for sure, Lindholm’s number in UFA will be steep I think likely an overpay for the player as his numbers this year don’t reflect what his ask will be

Add Jarnkrok and that gets you Lindholm 50% Retained, but not Zadorov. You’d have to add Liljegren + Abruzzese + Villeneuve for him to be included with retention

Lindholm’s gonna want $8.5-9mil/yr and Zadorov is gonna want $4.5-5.25mil/yr to extend

Liljegren a non starter. If want abruzzese and villeneuve fine, but take away one of Cowan or minten. Zadorov a rental.

Liljegren’s only worth a 2nd to me, Villeneuve a 5th and Abruzzese has No Trade Value, he’d just be a Sweetener required to take TOR’s offer any others

Lindholm Retained = 1st + Cowan + Minten + Jarnkrok

Zadorov Retained = 2nd/Liljegren + 2nd + Villeneuve + Abruzzese

Liljegren is a legit top 4 D and likely top 2.

Liljegren is a 5th-6th D-Man. He only makes the Top-4 in TOR because they only have 1 good Defensemen = Reilly

Let’s not get carried away with Minten btw, both he and Cowas are still just unproven Prospects

With Retention, a Right Shot 1C is certainly worth TWO 1sts (or a 1st + Top-Prospect) + a 2nd + Decent Roater Player

Keep in mind, TOR’s Pick will be a late one and isn’t near as valuable as one between 10th-20th Overall

Most ppl on here don’t have a clue about Zadorov and can’t get passed the fact he’s looking for More Minutes and is considered a Top-4 Defender who’s improved substantially since going the Flames. Nobody cares to look up his in ice stats because guessing and feelings trump actual research and knowledge on here apparently

Lindholm is listed as #2 and Zadorov is listed at #4 on The Athletics Top NHL Trade Board List
