He's still brutal at a lot of points, and the cap space allows more moves to improve the team further.

Canucks have no chance of convincing the Flames to send them Weegar. On top of that Allvin has said they are not willing to trade their first round pick. I don't believe this management group feels the Canucks are a contender yet and aren't willing to go all in just because they've played well for 25 games.

There is a decent chance over the course of the next couple seasons that deal will go from a hugely positive deal to more of a can we get him off the books for nothing type deal.
