Using Dougies Cap

Description
Dougie and Nosek on LTIR. Using the space it gives us.

I stink at trades. Total shot in the dark in what we can trade or what each players current trade value is. I assume devils don’t want to mess with their roster that much so it’ll be prospects, picks, and bottom pair or bottom 6 players.

Pretty sure they’re on IR and not LTIR. Unless I’ve seen it wrong

Don’t need LTIR yet.

Dougie is probably out for season…torn pectoral muscle, had surgery today. Often a 6-month recovery.

Yea I know that. But they’re probably on IR and not LTIR so they can still accrue cap no?

Ducks are unjustifiably going to want a lot for Gibson. Hey at least he finally has a positive saves above expected for the first time in 5 seasons

Yes, would assume. They don’t need LTIR yet, so will use regular IR until they make a move that requires it.

Yeah he’s a guy where I don’t think ANA moves but if devils take full cap the trade value comes down

I think Gibson probably carries too much bad-team-baggage on his value…so I don’t blame them. I think he could be good fit here…but such a move is unlikely to occur mid-season.

Depends on what kind of tear it is, if it was ruptured then yeah it'll take 6 months (sometimes longer depending on age) if it was a minor tear he could be back in only a few weeks with proper amount of rest

Would try to keep Miller as 7th D and keep Smith as a FWD, send tierrny and Leberge down to AHL trade for Duhaime or Blais. We dont know what they gonna do so stop assuming. If they are on IR the cap stays the same, its ony when they are LTIR they get capback. Depending how Nemec plays will justify what type of Dman they need, a DFD who can block move guys out of the front of the net(tanev/Lyubush etc or since everyone wants him hanifin. None of those trades get the guys.

He had surgery, which isn’t done for grade 1/2 tears. So I think minimum is three months.

(Ideally, he comes off LTIR just in time for playoffs)

I just find it odd that they placed him on IR rather than LTIR, to me that says they he wont be out for the full term. For sure he misses time but i doubt its the rest of the season.

Unless this is all for cap reasons and they are trying to have as much cap room at the deadline as they can

They don’t need LTIR yet, so no reason to place him there (Nemec was called up to replace him…and still fits under cap). As long as we aren’t using LTIR, we can still accrue cap space (which may be small now, but as you said, will add up at deadline).

A roster move of IR vs LTIR should not be seen as a lesser injury..or quicker recovery. He had the surgery today. He will be out long enough for LTIR…even under the most optimistic timeline.
