No chance I'd trade Hunter Brzustewicz yet. Buch is a great player, but Hunter one of our future big potentials.

I think Brzustewicz has first round value atm

I'd consider moving him for a 1st line winger/top 4 RD. It's good to have Willander and Lekkerimaki in the system who could conceivably contribute on ELCs and I think the Canucks best window is probably in the next couple of years while Miller is still producing, the OEL buyout isn't at it's most punitive and Hughes and Demko are on their bargain contracts.

Any comparables? I think this offer is fair (good roster player, top prospect and a 2024 first round pick). Buch is a good player but not a superstar e.g. Nylander

Meh on that. Takes more than 25 games of productive ohl play (floated mostly by assists) to turn a round 3 guy into a 1st round prospect. He's probably best to keep for now at least

Still no answer STL fans??!!!
All I know is that there was no way we were paying Buch 5.8m, ditto 95% of gms, hence our return.
Now he's being auctioned off when his cap isn't even needed and STL is doing well.
There's more to hockey than just stats people

You expect a defenseman's points to be mostly goals? He'd absolutely be a first round pick if the draft were a yr later. He was considered a steal on draft day and now look at him.

Yeah but those teams didn't draft him. And now you expect those teams that passed on him to change their minds after 6 goals in 27 games?

Why would we trade him this season for this when we can get the same or probably more next deadline?

Late first, a middle 6er with a similar cap hit and an extra season to boot, and a trending up offensive defenseman prospect.

I like Bruscewitz, but I’m not sure we need an offensive defenseman. I’m also seeing no benefit to trading Buch for anything short of a Meier comp package.

Horvat may be a good comp in a calendar year. Both Horvat and Debrincat were known to be moving on for other reasons. There’s no indication Buch is going anywhere.

You are being purposely obtuse I hope. Firstly 6 goals in 27 as a dman is good. Second you are just omitting that he 38 assists and is 2nd in league scoring.

"Yeah but those teams didn't draft him." And they regret it now.

It's the OHL. I'm not saying he won't be good. I'm just saying that his trade value hasn't increased that quickly. I'd heavily recommend keeping him vs trading him now. Unless you think his stock is peaking now (which is a very real possibility)

"It's the OHL" OHL is literally the best junior league in the world haha. He is putting up unprecedented numbers. It's worthy of praise.

Absolutely he could be peaking now. He could also be a yr or two away from being a top 4 NHL dman. You just don't know with d prospects. Once they make the NHL theyre rarely traded though so its a risk/reward.

Obviously I want to keep him but if you are trying to acquire top end talent you have to give up stuff of real value.

I've seen Hunter play about half a dozen times this year, he's the real deal. The kid can play. A very good friend of mine is a scout for a western conference NHL team that took a different D-man ahead of Bzruskewicz in the draft and right now they're asking themselves how they got this one so wrong. He told me to watch team USA at the WJHC this year as he expects this kid will lead all d-men in scoring in the tournament. I guess we'll see.

I highly doubt he leads over Hutson and Casey who should certainly be the power play QBs

If they pair Hutson with Brzustewicz, those two will lead the tournament in d-man scoring. Between Hutson's ability to score, and Brz's ability to feed him the puck, they'll be lethal.

Two more assists so far today in two periods. That give HB 40 assists in 28 games. The kid progressed miles and miles this past summer. Incredible.

Didn't make the prelim roster for team USA. So looks like he won't lead the tourney in points

Talked to my scout buddy last night, he is absolutely shocked. If the USA can leave HB off their preliminary roster, that must be one powerhouse team.

He ditched the US dev program for the OHL so some politics, but Casey and Hutson are just much better for the same role

I'd say that Hutson is better offensively, but not Casey. Both those guys are so little though at 5'9". Something political must have happened for HB to not even get a camp invite.
