Really mortgaging the future here, they just can't afford to do something like this.

They mortgaged the future when they extended Scheifele and Hellebuyck. This gives us the best chance to take advantage of that, and of our current core by filling holes with proven talent of the same skill level or better….and honestly what future we give up, other than Lucius and the 2 1sts is easily replaceable.
I hate losing Ehlers, but flipping him for a top pairing RHD would be justifiable considering the other moves.
This team is a contender and there’s no reason to think WPG couldn’t resign any of the new acquisitions.

    Highly disagree.
I think he would given how this team is built… assuming they were as successful as I think they would be

You're trading the equivalent of five 1st round picks, a recent 2nd who's doing well in his first AHL season and Ehlers, thats insane for 1.75 seasons of Konecny, a likely rental in Lindholm and Pulock who at least has term.

Yes they went all in with those awful contracts (gawd they're terrible deals and Helly's is gonna be bad sooner then 55's imo... 🤮) BUT look at the attendance so far, they're gonna need some young talent coming into the lineup to drum up excitement AND their ELC's to offset those awful contracts.

Realistically though that wouldn't be enough for the Isles to part with Pulock and he isn't waiving anyway, had this convo with another Jet fan on here but I heard him interviewed a few times in the past when he signed his bridge deal and at other times, he sounds very much like a guy who has no interest in leaving NY anytime soon.
