Description

This team can now start to look at competing, we can start to get assets and fill our cupboards, sell Boeser, bring lekkerimaki in, move kuzy for picks and prospects, maybe even move demko for a haul and then let the arty party start. We need to start the revolving door of players, get new guys in, get assets for our old ones and build around the core.

Nylander would be sick but there are better ways to spend 10mil

Leafs will resign nylander it’s just a matter of time and you’d have to offer him 12 to leave Torontos offer of 10 he wants to stay a leaf

lafferty would want more imo. No to nylander cuz you can spend that money more effectively while banking on hogs improving even more

Ya he'd be another guy who wants the puck on the PP and those slots are for Petey and Miller as far as fwds go. We need a secondary guy and or a 3rd defenseman.

Couple things,

There could be bad blood from them not giving him 10.
And if they do give him 10, where are they getting that money?
Hughes and Nylander are also buddies, Nylander lived with the Hughes family when he was first drafted

This would allow us to liquidate Brock, Mikheyev, Kuzmenko, and replace them with the prospects we develop from the picks we get for them. Do a couple of JTM trades that TBL did where they were at the top and selling some players to create space for others

Thats kinda what I am saying, he’s a Swede who was born in Calgary, drafted in Toronto, some of his closest friends are in New Jersey, Vancouver, Boston, and Washington. He is the ultimate wild card. The leafs can pay him, but they just wont be able to pay anyone else. If they realistically want to keep him they cant afford more than ~9.25
