Beginning in 2011 when the franchise moved to WPG, the oldest players are 30 (Scheif, Lowry, Hellebuyck).
Criteria:
-Currently on a roster, or
-Has played 1 or more NHL games this season, or
-On LTIR but expected to play this season
Honourable mentions:
- Tucker Poolman, (127th, 2013). Has concussion issues, I don't know the situation well enough to guess whether he plays this year or not.
- Atlanta Thrashers draft picks Evander Kane (4th, 2009) and Ben Chiarot (120th, 2009).
Honestly? It's impressive that a team's worth of players are still playing after only 13 years of drafts. Here's the round by round breakdown.
Players from x round still active vs total players selected in x round:
1st round: 10 / 15. Vesalainen (24th, 2017) is back in Europe. Lucius (18th, 2021), McGroarty (14th, 2022), Lambert (30th, 2022), and Barlow (18th, 2023) have yet to play an NHL game.
2nd round: 5 / 10. Lukas Sutter (39th, 2012) never played, the rest (2019-2023 drafts) have yet to play.
3rd round: 2 / 10. Adam Lowry and Johnathan Kovacevic.
4th round: 1 / 10. Andrew Copp.
5th round: 2 / 12. Connor Hellebuyck and Declan Chisholm. Tucker Poolman would be here if i included him.
7th round: 0 / 12. The only 7th rounder drafted by the Jets to play an NHL game so far is Sami Niku.
Inspired by the guy who did it for the 'nucks.
As for how this team would perform? probably decent actually. Hellebuyck is gonna do his thing, there are two solid D pairs and 3 decent forward lines. That 4th line is gonna drag the team down, and I think Heinola is still questionable for 2nd pairing minutes. Probably a wildcard team in either conference. $10mil under the cap too.
good post, i enjoy breakdowns like this for teams. considering how elite of a goalie hellebuyck is i feel the rating could be slightly higher for 5th round, unless you were basing purely on the number of players that have panned out

lol i forgot petan was with the wild
Yeah it was purely the number of players still in the NHL vs number of players the Jets have ever drafted in that round. If I did really dig into assigning ratings for the rounds I would say the 5th round is the most impressive solely because of Hellebuyck lol.
