no, yes, yes, no, no (although obviously, if this were another team, I would say yes to bedard as he will clearly be better than Matthews in the future... just obviously not a guy I'd take over Matthews if we're talking the next 2-3 years)
and then i think this goes without saying, but guys like fox, stutzle (?), and heiskanen are quite obviously a resounding no
How have leafs fans still not realized the value of term and cap space.
Jack hughes was better than Matthews last year, he's been better this year, is 4 years younger, and based on a rising cap and the contracts matthews demands (probably 15+ mill on his next one), will make 39 million dollars less than Matthews over the next 7 years.
Makar has been better this year, a much better playoff performer, younger, and again will make 16 million dollars less over the next 4 years.
Again Stutzle has 8 years of term, much younger and improving, and will likely make 43 million dollars less over the next 8 years.
Heiskenan again younger, 6 years of term, top 3 dman in hockey and will likely make 29 million dollars less over the next 6 years.
Fox again younger, 6 years of term, top 2 dman in hockey and will likely make 24 million dollars less over the next 6 years
