Looks good-ish
No way we make 6 trades though
No team will do that

Maybe I'm high on Middlestadt but I would 100% do that, especially if Morrow is ready to jump in towards the end of the year.

All that for rentals when we're pretty much out of a playoff spot? Doesn't make any sense. Pretty much trading away a top 10 pick and a talented young center.

Even if you plan to sign Pesce & Lindholm you're pretty much making it extremely difficult to sign our young talent like Quinn, Peterka, Levi, Benson etc.

Where's the top 10 pick? They got to sign Pesce at least. Probably 7 million a year, only about 3 million more than Jokiharju would get. Cap is going up and they'll have about 20 mill to work with, with not much to sign

Sorry I didn't see it was protected. Still potential for it to be a top 10 pick the year after.

> They got to sign Pesce at least

So why not just sign him in the summer without trading one of our most talented centers?

shake up the locker room and they can try before they buy. Can't figure Mittelstadt is part of the long term plan.

You're shaking up the locker room by trading one of your talented young players for...30 games & signing rights? How does that make any sense? Seems like a terrible move. The "shaking up the locker room" was something people said about ROR & Eichel. Turns out the players aren't the problem.

Why wouldn't Mitts be part of the long term plan? He's one of our best players right now.

Cozens and Thompson are locked in, Savoie Ostland and Kulich have a higher ceiling. Mitts is at his ceiling, no reason to pay him when he's redundant to what they have already and they have holes else where

Pretty sure the Canes aren’t in a rush to reunite Orlov and DeAngelo. Trading Pesce would kind of force their hand. Mittelstadt is good, but he isn’t worth destroying the dcore over for.

They are prospects. Ostlund might not even be more than a bottom 6 C. Savoie & Kulich might not be cut out to be centers. Might just be wingers. There is a lot of uncertainty with prospects. Mitts is already an established center who is turned out to be a great playmaker in the NHL. Giving that away for signing rights is just an extremely bad use of assets just for "shaking up the locker room". Just like the other Cs we've traded away I'd expect Mitts to turn out to be a top level player on a new team.

Mitts is what he is now, he's not going to get any better, for what he costs as their 3rd line C (when Thompson and Cozens are going he's the 3rd C) they aren't going to pay him 7 to 9mill for that, he is very expendable. Don't buy his jersey, cause he's not going to be here much longer

He deserves to be here next year, you’re ridiculous if u can’t see that. He’s one of our best players this year & he’s come a long way now that he’s managed to finally stay healthy

That’s a pretty dumb statement since he’s better this year than last
And he was better last year than the year before

Wow

Mitts isn't going to be a 100 point player, he'll float around 60-80 for a handful of years

So he’s not good if he isn’t a 100point player ???
A good 2way player who scores 60+ points is valuable
Especially if he’s our 3C

How many 3rd liners in the NHL get 60pts ?
I’ll bet “not many”

Completely different

1- Skinner scored 40goals that year, and goal scorers are paid a premium

2- he was a UFA and we had to pay him what he wanted or he’d walk- Mitts doesn’t have that option as an RFA

I didn't say he wasn't good, I said he's expendable. They can fix a hole on this team because he has value and he's replaceable with assets the Sabres have. It's a no brainer

You’re acting like the “60-80 points he’ll float around” isn’t good enough for you
For a guy who could be our 3C- that’s OUTSTANDING
There’s not a 3rd line player in the league who gets 100points
So calling him a 3C & then using that point total as a barometer for ANYTHING just doesn’t make sense

And “Fixing a hole” with a guy you’ll have to give big $$$ into his late 30s is a bad idea
Especially when that player has already declined

Regardless of your personal feelings,
Mitts has been one of our best players this season
U might wanna get used to having him around

There's a salary cap, you can't keep everyone. Unless Mitts takes a huge pay cut to stay. It's not worth signing him long term. Defensive Dmen also age much better than anyone else in the league. Id much rather fix the defense and have a better 2 way center at 3C
