Well at least the Leafs consistently make the playoffs. Big overpay for the for two non difference makers by the Leafs.

ok, if you think all-around game vets are nothing to suit your no-cup run for the 2 last decades!

No, I'm saying Savard and Monahan aren't difference makers. You should know, 95% of these TDL trades provide absolutely no benefit to the "buyer".
So the Habs have one cup run in the past decades. Yep the Leafs should be following the Habs pattern of success for the past three decades.

this won't change the fact that 30 years is still less than, what, 20,691 days since your last final...

Slaf is, watch a bit of him and look at stats. Funny how since he is on the first line, Caufield and Suzuki have Selke caliber stats… It was also confirmed Caufield played a lot last season with an injury. Players do that all the time. Look at Price

Monahan is definitely worth a first. Way worse players have gotten first recently (Bertuzzi, Copp, Barbashev)

Savard is easily worth a second without retention and 2 with retention

Laf was the same age as Knies… and Knies hasn’t surpassed them in ppg.

Holtz has more pts on the fourth line than Knies on the first line. He is easily better. Jarvis is also way better. Mercer beats Knies offensively and defensively

What do you mean Knies doesn’t get the opportunity. He is litterally playing with a 100 pts winger and the best goal scorer of all time and he isn’t producing a lot

"lot of last season" where he had an entire year to recover from...

Bert, Coppa and Barbashev clear Monahan... All 3 are guys you win with in the playoffs and play a way that helps you win...

Savard just blocks shots... Cheaper guys have gone for cheaper (Schenn is a good example and another one is Zadorov)

Laff's 22... and has had 3 more seasons in the NHL...

Again, Holtz has played 3 more games than Knies... And isn't playing 1rst line competition...

Knies isn't on PP... And is usually with Nylander... Not Marner... Minus games that matter, Knies is usually not on a 6 on 5... Usually it's the guy that needs to step it up as the Leafs know they'll make playoffs

I compared Knies to other players with long record because he did so with him. Just to prove his own logic is flawed

The fact he is having worst stats than Bunting while playing with those 2 superstars is why it’s held against him. It’s not normal to have a line like this :
60 goals scorer
100 pts winger
35 pts winger

Even if you putted Samsonov with Marner and Matthews, he would still have a decent amount of pts

Your other guy called Knies not helpful to a run compared to two bottom 6/pairing guys... So I used his logic against him and you threw a hissy fit...

Sorry bud, "your last final". I have never been in a (Stanley Cup) final, but I doubt you have either.

''your no-cup run". The Leafs aren't mine, and doubt the Habs are yours, and I doubt you are even a Hab employee.

Gee, you take FANatic to extreme level. Of course in my home town, "MY" teams have won three North American pro league sports championship in the past thirty years. Two Blue Jays and one Raptors. No other Canadian city can say the same.

What cup? No one with any respect to his sport would call the winner of the Stanley Cup playoffs would call it "cup".....it's "Cup".

Dafuq with that English high school grade teacher reaction?! Give us a favor and cut it short will ya!! Get yourself a playoff ticket and look your team lose another 20,000 days without any Stanley Cup for such childish behavior

Yeah, this trade is absolutely nonsense for the Leafs. They should definitely keep Knies as he will be a perfect second liner with Minten and Cowan. I was just responding to the other guy (same guy who said Knies was a lock for Calder and that Woll was a better prospect than Wallsteadt so I don’t really know why I discuss with him) saying Knies > Caufield.

I kinda like Knies. He has a similar style of play than me when I was playing, except he is a forward and I was a D. He doesn’t have a truly Elite trait, but everything is good in him. He doesn’t have any weakness, except not having any real strength. He is like the perfect versatile player that you will want in playoffs, kinda like Anderson, but without the disadvantages of Anderson. I just find it silly to say he is better than guys like Caufield, Boldy, Hischier or Thompson (I have heard all of those things). I think he will be a less fast, more physical Newhook or maybe a bit better Nichuskin. So great player that you absolutely want on your roster, but not a big star or a ppg player. I think his ceilling is around 70 pts/season, and his floor 40 pts/season.

Just to add to your comment. IMO Knies doesn't have an a good "NHL shot". He's more nifty with the puck, and big enough to make plays with the puck. So as you suggest he might more of 20 goal, 35 assist guy when playing on a second line without much PP time.

He will also be an impactful player in the playoffs. Maybe not a top producer, but he will bring energy and momentum
