Caps by tradedeadline

Created by: Logicalicesports
Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 27, 2023
Published: Dec. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1st and foremost: Miro needs more time in the AHL getting better minutes this season.

2nd: Leave Lap up with the Big Club. He can play on the third line along with Kuzy and Patches.

3rd: Trade a defenseman. One of Jensen, TVR or Edmundson. Which ever you can get the best return value for.

4th: Trade Milano, he has decent value and we could most likely get a decent younger player for him and a pick.

As far as the trades go, I say let Soderstrom play and if he can't hold his own on the bottom pairing with TVR than have Alexeyev play. OR actually trade Alexeyev instead of letting him rot in the Press Box.

Next Year the Capitals would look something like:

Ovi-Strome-R. Leonard
Protas-McMichael-Wilson
Miro-Persson-Lapierre
Malenstyn-Dowd-J. Leonard/Pierrick Dube

Fehervary-Carlson
Sandin-Soderstrom
TVR/Alexeyev-Bear

Kuemper-Lindgren

Extras: HHA, (UFA), and (UFA)

Offseason moves: Kuzy traded at draft, Alexeyev OR TVR traded and the other stays in the lineup, Oshie traded to Seattle, Dowd traded, Mantha, Patches and NAK all walk

Trades
1.
WSH
  1. Copponi, Matt [Reserve List]

  2. Milano, Sonny
  3. 2025 4th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:

  1. Kulak, Brett

I think the fit for Edmonton is good, but your price is a little light. No teams wanna help the Oilers out this year so I’d use that to your advantage and go harder on them.

I actually really like the Arizona deal if Jensen was left handed, the Coyotes are full on the right side already.

You’re definitely right that LA would need to make an additional move in order to facilitate this idea, but I don’t think Kulak is much of an upgrade on what they currently have so I don’t see the logic behind it

If Kulak were on a 1-year deal and Washington retained half, then maybe the Kings would take a look. With two additional years remaining at his full cap hit, the Kings aren't interested.

Gavrikov is already skating and expected to return sometime this week, so there's no need to bring someone in from outside. Moverare has done a solid job in his absence.

LA don't have the cap for anything. Intact they most likely need to lose Arvidsson. Good news is they doing very good without him already

I was thinking that would be the move for them, Send Arvy to a team in the east like the Panthers or someone and open up some cap room

Stecher in for Soderstrom, then the Yotes accept.
