Habs are not trading Monahanwithout gerring back a 1st + 3rd apparently this needs to be bolded for fans of other teams to understand that.

One I am a habs fan. Two I would agree that they are looking for that kind of value, but I disagree that they would value getting a 1st over getting a prospect that may have a chance of playing in the NHL sooner. I'll say getting a first would still be nice cause I could see them packaging up the pick at the draft for a roster player. I just don't think Kent is the type of manager to be so rigid to say "I want a first and 3rd and nothing else.

What about a Condition edit where if the rangers make the eastern conference finals and Monahan dresses 50% of the games the 2nd becomes a 1st.

But I do know they values Kaapo's two-way game a lot, so I think its probably pretty fair.

I don't think any team is going to cough up a 1st + 3rd rounder for a face-off specialist and another player for their second powerplay. Monahan's line of 2-7-9 in 36 games at 5v5 isn't exactly supportive of that price tag. He doesn't have any term or RFA status either. I get that MTL has no reason to actively trade him, but I just don't think there are any bidders at that price tag.

Adding depth for a contender is a PRIME... a Late 1st + 3rd or 2x2nd is the right cost... look at all past years
