Giving almost $20m to your top 2 centers isn't a great idea except if their names are Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl
If Skjei was going to take $5m then he'd be resigned in Carolina

Why are we signing Brady Skjei for 5x$5 when we have Zadorov who probably signs for cheaper or EP2 in the wings to make the team. Soucy is fine playing in the top 4 and we don’t need another Tyler Myers long term deal. I think this management is smart enough to not do something like this.

Was that a backhanded insult at me? I thought Tyler Myers was going to be good!

I rather keep DeSmith than Jones.
Casey DeSmith is by far the best backup goalie for Thatcher Demko.
Who’s idea to sign Martin Jones as a backup goalie for Demko?

Desmith will most likely be more expensive beyond this season than Jones. Jones is their to be a cheap contingency plan in case Artus Silovs isn't quite ready to be a full-time backup. Now hopefully his waiver exemption is still in effect beyond this year, since his ELC will be up

Yah... he played the best under RBA and the Canes system plays to his strengths... he'd probably be willing to take a discount

Then why isn't he re-signed already?

Probably because they are waiting for the offseason to resign... kind of like the Hurricanes did with their Captain and a few key depth players last offseason

Why wait for the off-season if both sides want the player to stay? They didn't do the waiting game with Aho

Aho is a superstar and they didn't want him to even sniff the open market.
"Why wait for the off-season if both sides want the player to stay?"- It's a negotiating tactic. He'll probably get 6.25mx4-5

He's not a right-shot defender, I think he gets less
