One more push and prepare to rebuild

Created by: suora
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 5, 2024
Published: Jan. 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Kuzmenko, Andrei
  2. Podkolzin, Vasily
Additional Details:
Vancouver needs to get rid off Kuzmenko's contract next summer the latest. The same time it's time to go deep in playoffs
VAN
  1. Guentzel, Jake
Additional Details:
Can't afford to lose Guentzel for free, and the same time can't rebuild without a 1st round pick this year. Their contract situation is not ready to start rebuilding, so having another top 6 forward for another year would be crucial.
2.
PIT
  1. Dorofeyev, Pavel
  2. Kallionkieli, Marcus
  3. Martinez, Alec
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (VGK)
  5. 2025 2nd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
Late second round picks. Martinez hasn't bounced back after the injury. Nevertheless, this would open cap space for some summer signings and still keep then compatible this year
VGK
  1. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
Great addition for VGK with term.
3.
PIT
  1. Kinnunen, Santtu
Additional Details:
He might be returning to Europe.
FLA
  1. Butcher, Will
  2. White, Colin
Additional Details:
Both guys are in minors, White is a familiar face for some depth in case injuries start to bug.
4.
EDM
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier

So we get worse in order to go for 1 last push before a rebuild? makes no sense

I rather have Pittsburgh keep Guentzel than trading him to Vancouver.
This Jake Guentzel trade rumour is ridiculous.
I don't know what Dubas is going to say.
This trade btwn PIT-VAN isn't happning, in my opinion.

In case you are out of it in the playoffs, you would need NHL ready players + top 6 forward for next year.
Top4 D will be needed next summer as well.

Personally I see it would make no harm to give a chance to Dorofeyev and Podolzkin to improve their game this year with the big guns and hope someone will crack in the lineup next year.

For Guentzel you need a player in return who can help the team next year when the team tries to go for the one last push with off-season signings

You can sign those in free agency haha, The one last push is this season, not next season

That’s probably the bones of the deal + our first. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Kuzmenko, Brwstewicz, 1st

Have you seen the market? Who do you think could sign with PIT who could fit the top 6?
PIT doesn't have a first rounder in the draft so it is not a biggie to try to develop some guys for the next year.

Exactly, we don't have a 1st this season, so we should be going all in and putting the best team on paper to make the playoffs and go on 1 last run.
The UFA is pretty stacked at foward as of Right now, so there would be alot of options for next season if we were to lose jake haha

You trade Pettersson for a couple of 2nds and cap space next summer? Why? You aren't signing a player as good as Pettersson for that cheap next summer so just keep him. Jake isnt going anywhere either.
