Reinhart getting Nylander net pay

Created by: NHLfan10506
Team: 2024-25 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2024
Published: Jan. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nylander
- 8 years
- $2,875,000 in base salary
- $8,625,000 in bonus
- $5,372,311 after tax

Reinhart
- 8 years
- $775,000 in base salary
- $8,075,000 in bonus
- $5,383,206 after tax

If Nylander money is the benchmark for Reinhart…Florida should be able to match the after tax numbers (obviously, a lot more goes into these decisions)

Rest of the contracts
- Forsling got Weegar’s contract
- OEL got Suters deal
- Lundell got just under Luostarinen (no arb rights yet)
- Cousins, Stolarz and Kulikov get $1.5m
- Most of rest are near minimum

Montour walks and is replace by Benning

One trade: Knight is moved out for cap space.

NHL players aren’t making money off carried interest or through public finances (like owners). It is straight income. So there aren’t as many loopholes as you’d think.

I make a small fraction of what they make and ya there are right offs…like the fancy suits and Starbucks cups o’ coffee

Crime committed! Impregnating my wife 3 times! And now they need every cent I make while they go to school lol. Prison would be cheaper!

Write-offs…(or deductions) are limited though. The more money you make, the less they have as impact. The guys who make big $$ don’t earn salary. They make money through carried interest, stock options, etc…which is not available to an NHL player (and is usually taxed at lower rate). An NHLer could put the money into IRAs, or trusts, but would have to eventually pay some tax when they draw it down. But they aren’t earning their wealth through equity in the team.

Inflation is a regressive wealth tax. Hurts low-income and fixed-income people the most. Crazy that many saw as a solution.

I was worried I many have underpaid Forsling. How does the rest of the lineup look?

Didn’t know about Stenlund, Lomberg, Gadjovich, etc.

I think he can get 5.5 to stay in Florida. Reinhart maybe a little less to stay here. And montour is not playing like he did last year so his contract may not be as high. But I’d keep all 3 of them. Probably around 1-1-5 haven’t done the math so not sure what we’d be looking at it. It I’m very open to trading ekblad though. He’s been terrible.

he does have 1yr left after this one

Has a limited NTC. He has been a liability quite often this year though, and knowing Zito, he seems like the guy he would move in a cap dump.
