1.
MTL
  1. Chytil, Filip
  2. 2024 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Montreal get a former 1st round pick that is struggling. It could be interesting to see if Martin St-Louis could help Chytil like he did with Dach and Newhook.
NYR
  1. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
Rangers make more cap space and get a good 3rd center that could be a top 6 forward in most of the team in the NHL.

2.
MTL
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Montreal get picks and make room for younger guy.
WPG
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
Winnipeg get a top 4 defenseman for their playoff run. Savard can take big minutes.

  1. Leonard, Ryan [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Montreal continue to get some quality prospect and draft pick. It would suck to loose Matheson, he is unbelievable. The best defenseman we have since Weber and Subban. We have to see the futur and I can't see Matheson take a spot on the roster over Guhle and Hutson.

Just an aside, but why do people insist on tinkering with Winnipeg's defense? The Jets are the only team in the League with fewer than 100 goals against in the first 41 games (unless Los Angeles gets two shutouts from their next three games, at Detroit and then back-to-back at Carolina and Dallas -- fat chance). And even then, the Jets would still have the #1 defense in the League.

Well this poster isn't a Jets fan BUT does the Jets D look like a defense of a cup winner? Not saying Savard is a huge upgrade over whats there but even with the results they're getting its a very fair debate as to if they can win a cup with a top pair RHD like DeMelo and a 2nd pair of Dillon and Pionk.

Will be interesting to see what they do at or before the TDL and how far they go in the playoffs with that defense as it is now.

Those two players are more valuable than Zegras is.

    No they're not.

You're wrong that a defense prospect without a game in the NHL has more value than Zegras (remember 5th overall selection Olli Juolevi?), but let's leave Reinbacher out of this. Slavkovsky's first two seasons: 80 games, 25 points. Zegras' first two seasons: 90 games, 74 points. And I'd be willing to bet that despite this injury-plagued season, Zegras will end this year with more points than Slavkovsky records in HIS first four seasons (unless his productivity makes about a 100% increase).

Established players which Zegras already is have more value then prospects other then the highest rated A++ prospects, Reinbacher isn't that.

Tall player take more time to develop. Look Byfield and Lafrenière. We are in 2024 and they got draft in 2020. They just start to put up the points. I rather have Byfield in my team than Zegras. Slafkovsky game really improved since last year. He just realized that he is the biggest guy on the ice.

Ok all of it is dependent on projections. I’m saying Zegras has h it his ceiling as a player. The other two are no where near their ceiling. If Reinbacher is a watered down Seider then yes he’s going to end up being more valuable. Slaf is a particularly interesting winger because so few wingers today have a skill and size combination like he does. If he reaches his ceiling I’m saying he too will be better than Zegras.

    (1) Absolutely no indication that Zegras has hit his ceiling as a player after only two full seasons.

    (2) Absolutely no indication what Slafkovsky's ceiling is. Nail Yakupov's projected ceiling was pretty high, too.

    (3) Your statement was that Slafkovsky is "more valuable than Zegras is." The fact that you're now qualifying that by saying "If he reaches his ceiling" demonstrates exactly why his current value isn't as high as Zegras'.

To Montreal they are. Why wouldn’t they be? They’re the two biggest pieces of their rebuild.

Value is 100% dependent on the team and the needs of a team. Reinbacher and Slaf are the two biggest pieces of this rebuild in Montreal. Why wouldn’t they be more valuable than Zegras? Montreal isn’t winning a cup by sending them away and bringing in Zegras.
